About Connie

Connie is our converted vintage 1968 LD Morris Ambulance, fully restored from bumper to boiler. Once, she raced to emergencies with blue lights flashing. These days, it’s the coffee machine doing the work.

Connie has a taste for the spotlight, too, having appeared in hit BBC drama Call the Midwife. On camera or at your event, she’s always ready to steal the show.

1968

Connie begins life as an LD Morris Ambulance.

1980

By 1980, Connie was retired as the NHS phased out LD Morris ambulances.

2022

Connie stars in the 11th series of BBC’s Call the Midwife.

2026

Connie is purchased and restored, reborn as a coffee van.

2026

Compassionate Coffee launches in partnership with Alexander Devine’s Children’s Hospice Service.

The Beans Behind the Brew

Just a 10-minute drive from Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice is MoneyRow Beans, the local roastery that supplies Connie with her speciality coffee beans.

MoneyRow Beans was founded by Vicky Weddell, born from her love of great coffee and the communities that grow up around it.

Vicky spent years working in the speciality coffee industry across the Middle East, focused on training and events. She brought that experience home to Berkshire, starting out in her garden shed in Moneyrow Green, Holyport.

Today, MoneyRow Beans roast in small batches at their Coffee Den in Moss End Garden Village. Every bean is sourced on a foundation of traceability and care for the coffee-producing communities at origin.
